Before making the switch to insurance, Ashley Lim was living out his childhood ambition of being an engineer in the construction industry. However, a series of events happened that made him see things differently. His then-partner’s father, many years back, was terminally ill and Ashley went through the entire medical process with them for close to three years. 

That was the first time he experienced first-hand the benefits of insurance. “If my mother were going through this same thing, would I be able to afford these bills?”, he remembers asking himself. It was a resounding ‘No’. That was when he realised a career in the insurance industry would be very meaningful.

He has never been a fan of hard-selling, hence he tries to truly understand his clients’ needs and give them unbiased advice. Having been in the industry for quite a long time has seen him grow along with his clients through hard times, and that fulfils him. He cherishes the fact that he is a friend to them, besides being just a financial consultant. They tell him that he is patient, trustworthy, and not pushy – especially in his specialisation of retirement planning and asset management for professionals and executives.

Besides growth, Ashley resonates immensely with being genuine. He asserts: “When we harness authentic relationships with our clients, we realise that this value drives us to be kind to people around us in general.”
